Enhanced weekly data access

Release Date: May 27, 2026

Beginning June 10, 2026 (covering data for the week ending June 5, 2026), EIA will enhance the way we disseminate data in the Weekly Petroleum Status Report (WPSR) by streamlining formats and introducing new offerings.

New weekly tables

Users will also benefit from expanded weekly data offerings, including new tables covering:

  • U.S. petroleum stocks
  • U.S. crude oil balances
  • U.S. product supplied
These additions are intended to provide users with broader and timelier visibility into key components of U.S. petroleum activity.

Streamlined navigation and historical data availability

All historical WPSR data—including the underlying series needed to perform week over week, year over year, and other derived calculations—will remain accessible through the Petroleum & Other Liquids Data page. The updated approach consolidates data access into a single, consistent location to support easier navigation and more efficient retrieval.

Access to price data

Spot price and retail price data traditionally viewed alongside WPSR content will continue to be available with our petroleum price data, ensuring uninterrupted access to these important series.

Support for automated data users

To support users preparing for the updated structure, sample test files for the week ending May 15, 2026, are available in CSV and JSON formats. These sample files are provided to help organizations validate and adjust automated data processes ahead of the transition.

User testing opportunities

EIA will host two user testing sessions to provide additional guidance on the new formats and answer questions. User testing sessions will be at 1:00 p.m. EST on June 1 and June 2 to provide release scenario testing for the new files. How to access and attend the WPSR testing sessions.
