Electric Reliability Data - Selected Years

Provides detailed North American Electric Reliability Council (and Corporation) regional information for selected years on electric reliability, including: monthly regional peak-hour demand 1990-2006; annual net energy for load for the actual base year and five future years; annual seasonal peak demand and energy for the base year and five future years; aggregated existing and planned generating capacity and demand; and proposed transmission lines. All data 2006 and prior years are final.

Foreign Direct Investment in U.S. Energy 2005

Today the Energy Information Administration released the report, Foreign Direct Investment in U.S. Energy 2005. This report describes the role of direct foreign ownership of U.S. energy enterprises with respect to their energy operations, capital investments, and net foreign investment flows (including net loans). In addition, since energy investments are made in a global context, the report examines patterns of direct investment in foreign energy enterprises by U.S.-based companies.

Natural Gas Annual Product -- Release of natural gas summary statistics in new format

The EIA released historical data series for natural gas supply and disposition data at the National and State level in an Excel format for the first time. These data are presented in the Natural Gas Annual. The new product provides customers with comprehensive time series summary statistics, and is presented for most series from the 1930's to 2006, with production data from the 1900's. Until this release, the full data series was available only in an HTML format, with the last 5 years available in PDF and CSV formats.

Monthly Energy Review

EIA's primary report of recent energy statistics: total energy production, consumption, and trade; energy prices; overviews of petroleum, natural gas, coal, electricity, nuclear energy, renewable energy, and international petroleum; and data unit conversions. Estimated petroleum data for 2007 show that crude oil and natural gas plant liquids production increased 34 thousand barrels per day (less than 1%) compared with 2006; petroleum net imports fell 278 thousand barrels per day (2%); and petroleum consumption increased 58 thousand barrels per day (less than 1%). Monthly Flash Estimate (MFE)

The January, 2008 issue of the Monthly Flash Estimate (MFE) of Electric Power Data is now available on EIA's Electricity Publications page. MFE provides an early look at the highlights of the upcoming Electric Power Monthly publication and presents tables of electricity generation, fuel consumption for generation, fossil fuel stocks, and average retail sales and prices of electricity. MFE precedes the next issue of EPM by three weeks. The current issue covers an early review of the November, 2007 electricity data. Battery storage capacity averaged 70% growth over the last three years  ›

Utility-scale battery storage capacity in the United States increased significantly during the last three years, with an annual average growth rate of 70%. By the end of 2025, the U.S. power system had operational battery storage capacity of 43.6 gigawatts (GW). During the first six months of 2026, operators added another 8.3 GW of battery storage capacity, reaching nearly 52 GW of nameplate battery storage capacity, based on our latest Preliminary Monthly Electric Generator Inventory.
