The 2018 EIA Energy Conference is one month away

EIA is hosting its 2018 Energy Conference on Monday, June 4, and Tuesday, June 5, in Washington, DC, where attendees will get up-to-date information on a wide set of emerging energy issues. This two-day event provides an opportunity to meet and network with energy analysts, decision makers, and EIA staff. Last year, more than 900 people from industry, government, and academia attended the conference.

Session topics include

• Electric system reliability and operations
• Electricity industry in transition
• Energy efficiency of buildings as a competitive factor
• Autonomous vehicles and their expected impact on travel demand and energy consumption
• The future of India’s energy economy
• Technological progress in U.S. tight oil production
• The growing importance of U.S. petroleum and LNG exports
• Downstream oil and natural gas development in Appalachia
• Water-for-energy: The state of current data and near-term options

Keynote speakers include:

• Linda Capuano, EIA Administrator
• Kevin J. McIntyre, Chairman, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
• Greg L. Armstrong, Chair, National Petroleum Council and Chairman and CEO, Plains All American Pipeline

EIA expects to add additional keynote speakers over the coming weeks.

Following the sessions on Monday, June 4, EIA will host a reception where attendees can network and see demonstrations of EIA data and tools, including information on EIA's Open Data efforts. The reception will also feature information on consumption data from EIA’s Residential Energy Consumption Survey, updated maps and assessments of tight oil and shale gas plays, the National Oil and Gas Gateway, updates to EIA’s international macroeconomic model, and an analysis of jobs in energy industries.
