Nov 3, 2025 U.S. coal production during the second quarter of 2025 totaled 128.1 million short tons (MMst), which was 3.2% lower than the previous quarter and 8.3% higher than the second quarter of 2024. Second-quarter 2025 U.S. coal exports (22.4 MMst) decreased 8.3% from the first-quarter 2025 level and decreased 14.1% from the second-quarter 2024 level. U.S. coal imports in the second quarter of 2025 totaled 0.7 MMst. All data for 2024 and previous years are final. All data for 2025 are preliminary.
