De Minimis Emissions

  • What are de minimis emissions?

Under the 1605(b) Program de minimis emissions are emissions from one or more sources and of one or more greenhouse gases that, in aggregate, are less than or equal to 3 percent of the total annual CO2 equivalent emissions of a reporting entity.

General Guidelines, §300.2

  • Must de minimis emissions be included in the Start Year report?

An estimate of de minimis emissions must be included in the Start Year report, and thereafter included every five years.  Entities must identify the type of emissions source excluded and provide an estimate of the annual quantity of such emissions using methods specified in the Technical Guidelines or by using the Simplified Emissions Inventory Tool (SEIT)

General Guidelines, §300.6(a)
