back to topDate of Publication/Last Update
The Energy Kids website was created by the U.S. Energy Information Administration(EIA) in 1998. Believe it or not, the site was created as a class project! It was first written and created by a group of employees that were taking a training class to learn all about the energy industry. The class decided to share what they had learned with the world by developing a kids' page for the EIA website.
When were the materials on this site last updated?
We try to review and update materials on Energy Kids about once a year but it is not all updated at once.

back to topAbout Energy Ant
Energy Ant was created in May 1975 by the Federal Energy Administration, the Department of Energy's predecessor, to tell kids about energy and how to use it wisely. We thought it would be fun to bring him back as a guide to the Energy Kids website and as an ambassador for energy information. A stuffed Energy Ant has visited classrooms and energy sites across the country, and you can read about his travels. Energy Ant even has his own activity book (for 4th-7th grader students).
