April 2025 Import Highlights

Monthly data on the origins of crude oil imports in April 2025 show that one country, Canada, exported more than one million barrels per day to the United States (see table below). The top five exporting countries accounted for 81% of United States crude oil imports in April while the top ten sources accounted for approximately 94% of all U.S. crude oil imports. The top five sources of U.S. crude oil imports for April were Canada (3.8 million b/d), Mexico (371,000 b/d), Guyana (348,000 b/d), Colombia (260,000 b/d), and Nigeria (180,000 b/d). The remaining top ten sources, in order, were Saudi Arabia (174,000 b/d), Venezuela (170,000 b/d), Iraq (163,000 b/d), Ecuador (123,000 b/d), and Brazil (107,000 b/d). Total crude oil imports averaged 6.0 million b/d in April, which was an increase of 277,000 b/d from imports during March 2025.

Canada remained the largest exporter of total petroleum to the United States in April; exporting 4.2 million b/d. The second largest exporter of total petroleum was Mexico with 454,000 b/d.
