This area-graph shows the percentage of utility contract transportation cost as compared with the total delivered price utilities paid for contract coal shipments. In 1979 the percentage of utility contract transportation cost to delivered price was 23.4 percent. By 1997 this percentage had increased to 35.9 percent of the delivered price.
