Monthly data on the origins of crude oil imports in March 2025 show that one country, Canada, exported more than one million barrels per day to the United States (see table below). The top five exporting countries accounted for 83% of United States crude oil imports in March while the top ten sources accounted for approximately 95% of all U.S. crude oil imports. The top five sources of U.S. crude oil imports for March were Canada (3.8 million b/d), Mexico (397,000 b/d), Venezuela (253,000 b/d), Saudi Arabia (196,000 b/d), and Brazil (172,000 b/d). The remaining top ten sources, in order, were Iraq (170,000 b/d), Colombia (156,000 b/d), Guyana (148,000 b/d), Ecuador (107,000 b/d), and United Arab Emirates ( 82,000 b/d). Total crude oil imports averaged 5.8 million b/d in March, which was a decrease of 289,000 b/d from imports during February 2025.
Canada remained the largest exporter of total petroleum to the United States in March; exporting 4.3 million b/d. The second largest exporter of total petroleum was Mexico with 479,000 b/d.
