Highlights: December 2025

• The Northeast saw a 9.6% increase in net electricity generation compared to the previous December, as this part of the country saw below average temperatures that led to increased electricity demand during December 2025.

• Southern Company saw its daily peak electricity demand range from its lowest over the twelve month period to around ninety percent of its all-time peak demand.

• Total U.S. coal stockpiles decreased by 2.1% to 109 million tons compared to the previous month.
