Authority of Congress, its committees, and agents
Section 3564(i) of CIPSEA provides that, under the authority of Congress, its committees, members, and agents, such as the General Accountability Office (GAO), may request access to CIPSEA-protected data for a statistical purpose, including oversight of an agency's statistical activities.
Note that a request from a member of the U.S. Congress or Senate does not qualify as a request under Section 3564(i). The request must come from the chair of the congressional or senate committee, and the request must be for a statistical purpose.
