Penalty provisions of CIPSEA

CIPSEA-protected data may not be publicly released in identifiable form. Each person who accesses and/or possesses CIPSEA-protected information has an obligation to apply appropriate physical safeguards and to prevent the unauthorized release of any identifiable information.

If you:
Know that disclosing this information is prohibited, and you
Willfully disclose the information to a person or agency that is not authorized to access it,
Then under Section 3572(f), you may be charged with a felony, and if you are found guilty, you may be subject to:
  Imprisonment up to five years
    And / Or
  A fine of not more than $250,000.
