Quarterly Electricity Imports and Exports Report Re-clearance Proposed for 2024 - Comments Due by February 20, 2024

Released: December 21, 2023 Federal Register Notice

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) invites public comment on the proposed three-year extension, without changes, to Form EIA-111, Quarterly Electricity Imports and Exports Report, as required under the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. The report is part of EIA’s comprehensive energy data program. Form EIA-111 collects information on U.S. imports and exports of electricity. Data are used to obtain estimates on the flows of electricity into and out of the United States.

The proposal was announced to the public via a Federal Register Notice (FRN) published on December 21, 2023. The FRN asks the public to submit comments to EIA and specifies a due date of February 20, 2024. EIA will review and address comments filed. When EIA submits the final package of documents to OMB, it will contain a list of the comments and EIA’s responses. At that time, EIA will publish another FRN to give the public 30 days to comment on the no change proposal and will specify that the comments should now go directly to OMB. OMB will perform their review and may ask EIA for further documentation or clarification. If approved, EIA expects the new form to be effective in October 2024.
