2015 EIA Energy Conference

U.S. average retail gasoline prices increase, diesel fuel prices decrease

The U.S. average retail price of regular gasoline increased six cents from last week to $2.84 per gallon as of June 15, 2015, down 85 cents from the same time last year. Only the West Coast price decreased, falling four cents to $3.33 per gallon. The Midwest price increased 12 cents to $2.79 per gallon. The Gulf Coast price rose six cents per gallon to $2.59 per gallon, followed by the East Coast price, which increased five cents to $2.74 per gallon. The Rocky Mountain price was up three cents to $2.79 per gallon. The U.S. average diesel fuel price decreased one cent from the prior week to $2.87 per gallon, $1.01 per gallon lower than the same time last year. The West Coast, Midwest, and Rocky Mountain prices each decreased two cents, to $3.10 per gallon, $2.75 per gallon, and $2.81 per gallon, respectively. The East Coast price was down a penny to $2.97 per gallon, as was the Gulf Coast price, which decreased to $2.78 per gallon.

Propane inventories gain

U.S. propane stocks increased by 1.9 million barrels last week to 80.7 million barrels as of June 12, 2015, 29.4 million barrels (57.4%) higher than a year ago. Gulf Coast inventories increased by 1.0 million barrels and Midwest inventories increased by 0.9 million barrels. East Coast inventories decreased by 0.1 million barrels while Rocky Mountain/West Coast inventories remained unchanged. Propylene non-fuel-use inventories represented 6.7% of total propane inventories.
