Highlights: November 2023

• New 12-month electricity system demand lows were set in California (CAISO) on November 23 and in Progress Florida on November 24.

• Wholesale electricity prices were highest during November 2023 in the Northwest, peaking at $117/MWh at Mid-C on November 30. Electricity Prices were lowest in the Midwest (MISO) and Louisiana (into Entergy), remaining below $45/MWh throughout the month at both locations.

• Total U.S. coal stockpiles had a month-over-month increase of 6.8%, reaching 131 million tons in November 2023. This represents the highest level of total U.S. coal stockpiles not seen since 2020.
