Foodservice Packaging Institute
The Foodservice Packaging Institute (FPI) is a nonprofit trade association for manufacturers and suppliers of single-use foodservice products. These products consist of single-use cups, plates, bowls, bags, cutlery, trays, hinged-lid clamshell containers, etc. made from paper, plastic, aluminum and newer 'alternative' materials. The Foodservice Packaging Institute supports the environmentally responsible manufacture, distribution, use and disposal of foodservice packaging.
FPI offers a free online teacher's kit that includes educational materials for middle school environmental science educators. This kit contains a full range of information and student activities, including an interactive game. FPI also houses an online 'Foodservice Packaging Library' that covers many issues related to single-use packaging. For more information, please visit www.fpi.org.
