Survey Forms
Stakeholders Meetings — Electricity and Renewables Surveys Review for 2014
EIA is required to clear electric power and renewable energy survey forms (below) through the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) every three years. Although the formal clearance process doesn't take place until 2013, the preparation and planning has already begun. We have preliminary proposals to improve the surveys, and now we would like input from our stakeholders.
EIA identified seven distinct subject areas in the forms and teams researched the various aspects of the electricity and renewables data collection efforts. Proposed changes were developed. We will be conducting a series of meetings to brief our stakeholders and solicit comments on the proposed changes. We will use your feedback to help create a revised set of proposed changes which will undergo the formal OMB clearance process next year.
We welcome your participation. Register to attend any of the meetings — in person* or following along on-line via WebEx. On-line registration is limited, so make your reservations soon.

*Meeting has been cancelled. EIA is not recommending any additions, clarifications, or deletions to existing surveys. Although data were identified as potential candidates for survey collection, the data have either been obtained through publicly available third party sources or the benefit associated with collection of the data has been determined to not be commensurate with the burden to respondents. Should stakeholders require additional information, please feel free to contact Nancy Slater-Thompson at nancy.slater-thompson@eia.gov or 202-586-9322.
Next Steps
After all stakeholder input is received, revised forms will be drafted and posted for comment. We will simultaneously release a Federal Register Notice (FRN) announcing the proposals and asking for comments within a 60-day period. We expect this process to begin in late 2012.
EIA will review all comments in response to the FRN and prepare final proposals and a supporting statement. These materials will be submitted to OMB, and will also be released to the public with an accompanying FRN for a 30 day review period. OMB will then make final decisions on changes to the surveys.
