EIA is currently pursuing a study to look more closely at product import availability from Atlantic Basin sources.

There are several factors that have raised interest in the future availability of product imports to the United States.

The first factor is the growing awareness that demand has caught up with U.S. capacity.

For almost 20 years, we have had an excess of refining capacity in this country, but that is not longer the case.

Where will new supply come from to meet growing demand?
