Notes:
- Propane comes from both refinery production and production of natural gas. Refinery production is where the largest growth in volume has occurred over the long term.
- Propane comes primarily from two units in a refinery -- the reformer and fluid catalytic cracking unit -- which are important units in the production of gasoline. With increased crude oil throughputs and gasoline production this year, propane production from refineries is up.
- Production of propane at gas plants is also up. Although the prices of natural gas are up, propane prices have increased adequately to create positive margins to produce propane.
