| Overview: No retail unbundling programs are available at this time for residential gas customers in Rhode Island. In 2000, New England Gas Company became the sole local distribution company in the State, with the acquisitions of the former Providence Energy Corporation, Valley Resources, Inc. and Subsidiaries, and Fall River Gas Company. On August 24, 2006, National Grid purchased the Rhode Island natural gas operations of New England Gas Company. As a result, New England Gas Company no longer provides natural gas service in Rhode Island. National Grid offers supplier choice to business customers in Rhode Island using at least 500 thousand cubic feet (Mcf) per year (which includes some restaurants and laundromats). In 2008, 45 marketers were registered with the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission and two marketer applications were pending. |

The average prices residential and commercial customers paid for natural gas from local distribution companies were $16.66 and $14.91 per thousand cubic feet, respectively. |
