| Status: The State has no unbundled service programs for residential customers. |
| Overview: No retail unbundling program is being considered at this time by either the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (PUC) or the State legislature. Currently, only large industrial customers can receive unbundled service from the local distribution company (LDC). The PUC regulates two LDCs: Intermountain Gas Company and Avista Utilities. In December 1998, the PUC established competitive practice standards for Intermountain Gas and set up a registry of gas marketers who wish to provide service within the utility's service area. |
| EIA State Data: In 2007, Idaho had 323,114 residential and 33,767 commercial customers. They consumed approximately 24 and 14 billion cubic feet of natural gas, respectively. The average prices residential and commercial customers paid for natural gas from local distribution companies were $11.47 and $10.67 per thousand cubic feet, respectively. |
