| Overview: There is no action pending in the Alabama State Legislature or the Public Service Commission (PSC) regarding residential natural gas unbundling. The PSC staff is monitoring the natural gas unbundling activities and results of neighboring States. Industrial and commercial customers can contract directly for their gas or use the utility as an agent. These contracts are approved by the PSC as special contracts. |
| EIA State Data: In 2007, Alabama had 796,016 residential and 65,856 commercial customers. They consumed approximately 36 and 23 billion cubic feet of natural gas, respectively. The average prices residential and commercial customers paid for natural gas from local distribution companies were $18.13 and $15.07 per thousand cubic feet, respectively. |
