Retail Unbundling - Washington
Status: The state has no unbundled service
programs for residential customers.
Overview: No retail unbundling program is being
considered at this time by either the Washington Utilities and Transportation
Commission or the state legislature. Unbundled service is available to
large-volume commercial and industrial customers, which include hospitals and
large schools.
EIA State Data: In 2003, Washington had 895,800
residential and 87,083 commercial customers. They consumed 71 and 48 billion
cubic feet of natural gas, respectively. The average prices paid for natural
gas purchased from local distribution companies by residential and commercial
customers were $8.43 and $7.38 per thousand cubic feet, respectively.
