Retail Unbundling - Louisiana
Status: The state has no unbundled services for residential customers.
Overview: No retail unbundling program is being considered at this time by either the Louisiana Public Service Commission or the state legislature. Currently, only large industrial customers can purchase natural gas from nonutility suppliers.
EIA State Data: In 2001, Louisiana had 952,753 residential and 62,232 commercial customers. They consumed 49 and 29
billion cubic feet of natural gas, respectively. The average prices paid for natural gas purchased from local distribution companies by
residential and commercial customers were $10.47 and $8.59 per thousand cubic feet, respectively. The average city gate price in
the state was $5.55 per thousand cubic feet.
