Retail Unbundling - Arkansas
Status: The state has no unbundled service programs for residential customers.
Overview: No retail unbundling program is being considered at this time by either the Arkansas Public Service Commission or the state legislature. Large-volume industrial and commercial consumers can purchase their own gas if they can show that they are near a pipeline.
EIA State Data: In 2001, Arkansas had 552,716 residential and 71,875 commercial customers who consumed 37 and 32 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of natural gas, respectively. The average prices paid for natural gas purchased from local distribution companies by residential and commercial customers were $10.03 and $7.80 per thousand cubic feet, respectively. The average city gate price in the state was $6.11 per thousand cubic feet.
