Annual Energy Outlook
Released: April 15, 2013 The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) today released additional content of Annual Energy Outlook 2013 (AEO2013), updating and expanding on the early release version of AEO2013 Reference case released in December 2012. Today's release includes a Legislation and Regulations section that discusses evolving issues, a Market Trends section that highlights projections for energy markets, and a comparison of AEO2013 with projections from other organizations. Additional components of AEO2013 will be issued over the coming weeks. |

Released: May 11, 2010 Nuclear power plants generate approximately 20 percent of U.S. electricity, and the plants in operation today are often seen as attractive assets in the current environment of uncertainty about future fossil fuel prices, high construction costs for new power plants (particularly nuclear plants), and the potential enactment of GHG regulations. Existing nuclear power plants have low fuel costs and relatively high power output. However, there is uncertainty about how long they will be allowed to continue operating. |
