EIA’s Weekly Petroleum Data Show Continued Strong Crude Oil Imports

Petroleum supply and demand data released today by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) were highlighted by continued strong crude oil imports, enabling US refineries to operate at high levels.  Crude oil and gasoline inventories increased for the second straight week. 

Guy Caruso, EIA’s Administrator, said “This week’s petroleum numbers, combined with increased supplies on the global oil market, are positive developments as the U.S. heads into its peak gasoline demand seasonIt is welcome news to see gasoline inventories increasing even after the high travel  Memorial Day weekend, reflecting the very high levels of U.S. gasoline production over the last several weeks.

Weekly estimates of U.S. petroleum supply and demand are released at 10:30 AM each Wednesday in EIA’s Weekly Petroleum Status Report which is available on the EIA Web site at:
