| The German Democratic Republic (East Germany - listed here as Germany, East) and the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany - listed here as Germany, West) were reunified as Germany on October 3, 1990. Data for unified Germany are reported beginning with 1991 and are included in OECD, OECD Europe, EU, and IEA totals included in the Country Group Tables: Table 1.1, Table 1.8, Table 2.1, and Table 2.9. Population data for Germany are reported beginning in 1980 because no data are are available for Germany, East or Germany, West in the U.S. Census Bureau's International Data Base. | ||
