The above information is from the 1994 Residential Transportation Energy Consumption Survey (RTECS). The RTECS was a follow-up survey to the Residential Energy Consumption Survey, a national sample survey of U. S. households. The RTECS collected data on household vehicle characteristics and vehicle-miles traveled, and estimated annual fuel consumption and expenditures.
