Container glass manufacturing consumes the largest amount of energy, based on its production of the greatest amount of tonnage of all glass sectors. The pressed and blown glass, flat glass, and fiberglass insulation sectors also consume significant amounts of energy, as illustrated in the chart below. The 1998 Manufacturing Energy Consumption Survey did not provide a breakdown of glass industry sector energy use.
