U.S. Department of Energy - Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management

The Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management is a federal program established to manage and dispose of the nation's spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste.

The agency furnishes an online curriculum, Science, Society, and America's Nuclear Waste, at http://www.ocrwm.doe.gov/curriculum/index.shtml. The curriculum is intended to assist teachers in presenting information related to the management and disposal of America's nuclear waste. It is suitable for use in technology, science, and social studies classes in high school, middle school, and advanced lower grades. It consists of four units: Energy and Nuclear Waste; Ionizing Radiation; Societal Concerns and National Policy; and The Waste Management System.
