eesmarts

The eesmarts program is a one-of-a-kind energy education program funded by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund and administered by the Connecticut Light & Power Company and the United Illuminating Company.

The eesmarts program teaches PreK-9th grade students about energy, energy conservation and renewable energy - empowering them to take action. The program offers free energy-efficiency education workshops that are eligible for Connecticut continuing education unit credits. Workshops can be customized for district-specific training, or individuals can attend our general workshops or Summer Institute for professional development. The program also offers free grade-specific curriculum lessons for PreK-9 teachers who attend eesmarts workshops. Created by a team of Connecticut certified educators, each curriculum unit integrates science, language arts, math, citizenship, abstract thinking and the scientific method. The lessons are flexible and interactive, and can be done in two days or two weeks depending on teacher preference and student interest. These lessons are supportive of the CT Science Framework Standards and the National Science Standards, while facilitating preparation for the CT Mastery and the CT Academic Performance Tests.
