American Public Power Association (APPA)

The American Public Power Association is the service organization for the nation's more than 2,000 not-for-profit, community- and state-owned electric utilities.

Provides various general information pamphlets including information on public power, energy conservation, safety, and renewable energy, such as Careers in Public Power and All About Electricity and 10 Ways Kids Can Save It. Two resources developed by APPA's Demonstration of Energy-Efficient Developments (DEED) program for elementary and middle school students are: 1) The New Crusaders, a renewable energy education program that includes a video, teacher's manual, and student worksheets; and 2) Power Bandit, a CD Rom to educate children on energy safety, conservation and efficiency. APPA's publications and other resources are offered for a nominal fee. A complete list of materials available is on the website at www.APPAnet.org. The DEED program also offers scholarships to college students and this information is available on the website at www.APPAnet.org/DEED.cfm.
